Many healthcare providers are encouraging patients to reduce sodium intake

As reported on HealthDayNews, Harvard Medical School suggests the following six tips to reducing the amount of salt in your diet:

1. Buy fresh, frozen or canned “no salt added” vegetables.

2.Use fresh poultry, fish, and lean meat, rather than canned or processed.

3. Use herbs, spices and salt-free seasoning blends in cooking, and at the table.

4. Rinse canned foods, such as tuna, to remove some sodium.

5. Cut back on frozen dinners, packaged mixes, canned soups and salad dressings.

6. Cook rice, pasta and hot cereals without salt.
